Weekend Update: BIRTHDAY BASH

Disclaimer: I should've posted this about a month ago, but sometimes life gets in the way. Also the Weekend Update is coming on a Thursday. This is just how life is working right now y'all.

I should really try staying a whole weekend in Baton Rouge for once. Oh wait, that's what I'm trying out right now. I'll let y'all know how this goes. So far it includes making myself Tex Mex Migas (I've linked the recipe please try it out they are DIVINE), and cleaning my apartment. Nothing too crazy, but I think that's what I need after adventuring all over the place for the past month. I'm serious y'all, I looked back in my calendar and I haven't spent a weekend in BR in over a month! I swear I'm trying to love it. It's not my fault NOLA keeps calling my name.

Anyway, back to my point, let's look back at Birthday Weekend. Yes the italics are necessary, it's a fancy event, duh.

Weekend Update: How to Avoid Any Lingering Responsibilities

Before you do anything else go ahead and throw yourself a little party. You made it through Monday, and that's a cause for celebration.
See it's my celebration dance!
I might be over exaggerating, but Monday is. the. worst. It's especially the worst when you have the beginning of the semester (did I mention that starts Wednesday) staring you directly in the eyes.

Let's just say that I'm coping with the start of the semester very well. And by that I mean I threw all of my money at a weekend getaway to New Orleans and never looked back.

Here's a look:

LSU v. BAMA: The Road Trip of a Lifetime

Some things you check off your bucket list, and some stones are left unturned. I went to an LSU/Alabama game recently (bucket list), but left Tuscaloosa with a fifth consecutive loss to Bama, we'll have to turn over that stone another day.

It can be blamed on so many different things. My personal favorite is the curse against red teams, although if that had any truth to it we would be in some serious trouble. Regardless of the loss, and the plethora of Bama fans, we had an unforgettable weekend with some pretty rad friends. I don't think you could plan a better reunion than this.

So let's get started, I've got plenty of people to introduce you to:

The Ruby Slipper: A Religious Experience

You guys I am just so sorry that I haven't been around lately. What's it been? 2 weeks? I understand if you feel that it's time to move on but I'd love for you to stick around.

So you remember way back when, I said I would share with you every little detail about the best brunch ever? Well I'm finally making good on that promise. Prepare yourself. Grab a cup of coffee, cleanse your pallet, close your eyes and get ready to embark on a religious experience of good ole southern deliciousness.

The Great Escape

Sometimes you just want to run away from all your problems and never look back. You know, quit your job, cut off all your hair, break up with your boyfriend, and hell while you're at it just get the heck out of town. While that was my mindset for most of last week the rational side of me said "Allison, it's not time for a mid-life crisis, don't upstage your future self." So I placated my rebellious side with a rational weekend getaway to New Orleans, a city filled with good food, lazy days, and no worries.
